Recent and additional expected changes to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) will impact electronics companies that manufacture for the aerospace and defense markets. These regulations specifically address printed boards and printed board designs and affect the entire electronics supply chain, from OEMs to printed board manufacturers and designers.

A series of Webinars next month will help electronics suppliers understand changes in export control regulations that go into effect in October.  IPC will hold a three-part Weminar series on July 9, 16 and 23 to help electronics manufacturers understand the changes and their impact on their businesses.

IPC’s Fern Abrams will open the series on July 9. She’ll focus on the implications of export controls reform for printed board manufacturers and suppliers while also explaining the status of the controls reform. The one-hour discussion will also provide insight on the expected timetable for promulgation of the final regulations.

The session on July 16 will be presented by Kerry Scarlott, Esq., a director at the law firm of Goulston & Storrs. Scarlott specializes in international law for technology companies, so his presentation will have plenty of substance for IPC members. Scarlott will offer tips for the unwary, lessons learned from recent actions and compliance during the period when reforms are coming into play.

On July 23, Suzanne Kao, partner and founder at Huffman Riley Kao PLLC, will provide practical steps for complying with U.S. export controls. She’ll also help determine which regime applies to which products and when a license is needed and how to create an effective one,

The hour-long Webinars are all scheduled from 1-2 PM Central time. For more information, click here.
